My Name is Angelo Hatzon as a director of Aztec Constructions I thank you for expressing interest in our service. Firstly though, here is a brief story of our history.

I first obtained my Builders’ Licence in November of 1996 after coming from a family of Builders. My father, now retired and my brother are still Building with all of us now operating our own separate entities. I spent most of my younger years helping my father on his construction sites however with all family members working together, it wasn’t too late before the education gave me the drive to control the building site which similarly meant that each of us as family members would all own our own separate entities.

I first started out as a partnership with my wife lasting 4 years and in that time I had accomplished a lot and completed a number of projects in both domestic & commercial. The business grew very quick and the jobs became larger. It was time to expand the business. It was at that moment I decided to start a new construction Company, Aztec constructions Pty Ltd in May of 2000. Since then I have done many jobs both domestic & commercial but the main line of work of Aztec Constructions focuses on new homes, renovations & alterations which are that extensive they could be classed as new homes.

Moving on to our recent years, 2000 was a good year as I had to endure the experience of running 3 jobs at once. One job was a single storey addition, the other was a 2nd storey addition and the third was a two storey house with extensive renovations. It was a great experience and it gave me an insight of my capabilities. From a day to day perspective, I have always been hands on, so the task was demanding running 3 jobs at one time which included the physical labour, inventory and paperwork that is involved with any job. It was so successful that it made me feel very good about the builder and person I was becoming.

Speaking personally, it is very important to me as a builder that all of my clients are happy with the work that I provide and the confidence I give them in myself as a builder. The business changed again when I started to work for Architects. As you can imagine, this type of work is very detailed and challenging testing my every step. With perseverance and spending extra time on understanding requirements, the first architectural job proved very successful and most of the setout and hands on work including frames, roof & roof sheeting was done by me. This first job was for CullenFeng Architects and was completed on time & budget meeting the owner & Architects expectations. The address was, 8 High street Waverley and was to be later published in the domain Jan 13 2005 and the top 100 houses magazine of 2005 and Houses magazine issue 42 2005. From that point onwards my work expanded meeting new Architects and completing there work became easier as jobs compounded and I still was spending time working direct for home owners whilst the work for Architects expanded.

One of my next projects was for the same Architect at 334 Annandale road Annandale which involved alterations and additions to existing premises which was once again completed on time and fulfilled owners and architects expectations. In 2005 a lot of my work was for home owners and designers along with a new Architect Forster & Associates which involved the fire upgrade of a foyer in a block of units at Cremorne. I was a recommendation by an Engineer, Craig Fyall Engineering and was also the successful tender on the job. The end of 2005 brought major change to my work with the excitement of a new Architect, Stephen Varady Architecture. Stephens work was very different from most architects that I was use to and was very challenging and detailed. Stephens' first project was at 1 Courland street Randwick which included alterations & addition to an existing residence and had very different finishes and details to your usual home. This type of work became very challenging but rewarding once the project was completed. Once again most of the work was hands on and this meant that I could focus on attention to detail. This job was once again featured in Australian House Garden magazine celebrating 60 years in August 2008.

2006 was another year and this time I executed 2 jobs at once for 2 different Architects completing both jobs in 6 months on time and budget once again. One job was for Stephen Varady at Erskineville which involved alterations and additions and bathrooms made entirely of glass including a new external stairwell floating off the floor. This job was featured in the Sunday Telegraph on 8th of August 2008 and Belle Kitchen & Bathroom special apr/ may 2008. The other job was for CullenFeng at Crows Nest and involved a 2 storey addition of a semi and a garage. This job was challenging as we had to underpin the adjoining neighbour party wall and protect them from the elements. This was executed in a professional manor and had the neighbours' feeling comfortable with me as “the Builder next door”.

The hands on approach played a big role on both jobs with the extensive detail. In 2007 I completed a number of jobs with 2 of them for different people in the same building at Cremorne, a previous job in 2005. I also completed a renovation for Stephen Varady again in Potts point which involved alterations to an apartment and the main focus was in the 2 bathrooms with glass walls and floors. This apartment was featured in Houses Style, kitchen + bathroom magazine issue 04 and also Australia Vogue Living before & after renovations magazine special edition 2008. My largest project was also completed at the same time as the apartment renovation in 2007. I was once again recommended by Craig Fyall Engineering and was the successful tender on the job at 12 Julian Street Mosman. A new Architect and a large project with extensive detail again. This job was also finished in 9 months with a more extensive commitment to the hands on approach. On this job all timber framing, beams, windows, cladding, waterproofing, concreting, roofing and decking were all done by me with the help of my hired labour. This meant that there was no room for error and all changes or discrepancies could be dealt with ease. The new Architect, Dixon Andrews Architect would then ask me to tender for another job in Mosman in which I was the successful tender. This was another large project which involved the re-build of a home with only the garage remaining. Running into the next year, I also built a new 3 storey premises at Woollahra for the owner of the previous job at 12 Julian Street Mosman. Both these jobs were executed simultaneously and completed by Christmas both jobs taking 11 months, both with the hands on approach. I also completed some minor works at Alexnadria which involved finishing a glass bathroom and minor alterations for 4 Site Design who would later provide me with new work.

In 2009 I would proceed with work for 3 clients at once. The first job was a second storey addition direct for the home owner at Lilyfield recommended by GN Stamatakos Engineer. The second was a refurbishment of an apartment Designed by Stephen Varady Architecture and run by 4 Site Design. The third was a new home at 25 Burren Street Erskineville for Environa Studio. All 3 jobs were completed on time and all parties were once again satisfied with my services. 2010 was a new and prosperous year with my largest project yet starting in May. A large project which involves the re- construction of a home & swimming pool at 18 Mistral Avenue Mosman. This job is for Dixon Andrews Architect and is valued at $1,926 Million. The value of any one job does not give you an incite on what’s involved. A job worth half this amount could have more detailed work than this job. Attention to detail & organization on any job will fulfill all requirements & expectations of the Architects and Owners.

Yours Faithfully

Angelo Hatzon
